Colletor's Art Gallery Will Hold Contemporary Art Exhibitions

We are pleased to announce that beginning in May 2006, the Collector's Art Gallery will hold bimonthly exhibitions of contemporary art.

The gallery's inventory consists mainly of paintings, sculptures and prints from the 17th through 20th centuries. Now, director Michael Labrie plans to expand the gallery's scope to include rotating exhibitions of contemporary artists from New England and beyond.

Earlier this month, Labrie approached local artist and independent curator Albina Colden, offering her to launch this endeavor. Colden has agreed, and will curate the gallery's 2006 season.

The schedule of exhibitions will kick off with "The Naked Truth," a show focusing on the nude figure, scheduled to open in May and to run through the first week of July. Following "The Naked Truth" will be "Alternate Realities," a show focusing on the different manner in which artists see every day life. "Alternate Realities will open the second week of July and run through September.

September through November Collector's Art gallery will host a compass care event and exhibit the work of senior artists in the seacoast area

November through January the gallery looks forward to "Still and Life Studies" an exhibition of drawings and paintings by 11 women artists.

October 2006, Beth Liff joined the staff at Collector's Art gallery and will be the new curator for the 2007 season and beyond. Beth Liff comes to us with 7 years of gallery experience, and is also a local artist, herself.
